Workshop: Scratch Block & Iron Pour

Presenting a practical pause to professionally perform a public practice to punctually produce a personal plaque! Create your own iron plaque! In conjunction with the Standard Issue Iron Pour in Lanesboro, Karl Unnasch is presenting a public Scratch Block workshop.
The Scratch Block process entails the participant carving a reverse relief into an existing sand mold blank (any imagery and text is possible and tools and professional assistance will be made available to all participants). Once the carved relief is finished, the Standard Issue iron mongers will mark the mold with the carver’s initials for identification, set it into the mold line and pour it on the July 24.We encourage all carvers to come on that Saturday to watch as 2700 degree molten iron is transformed on-site. Completed plaques from the workshops will be made available for their owners for pick-up on Sunday, July 25 at Sylvan Park (or at a later date at the Lanesboro Arts Center). No experience necessary! All ages are encouraged to participate! $25 for each 2-hour workshop.
